I made it! 50 is here

Well folks I have finally arrived at 50!

I cant even believe Im here. I remember being 10 or 11 and my grandmother teaching me to crochet and I thought will I ever be that old to know how to crochet so many differant things as my grandmother did. And now Im a grandmother of a 12 year old! Boy how time flies when Im crocheting.

I put some pics of my awesome flowers Terry bought me for my birthday! Are they not just the prettiest flowers. They are white with tinged pink! My daughter went out and bought me a chocolate cake and they both got me cards. On my computer this morning was a really cute card from CrochetwithDee I cant believe she took the time out to send me a card too! Thanks Dee!

Well Im off to the mall today Terry is buying me the perfume Lovely from Sarah Jessica Parker. I really want a bottle of her perfume. And my son Shawn gave me 50.00 for my Christmas to go to Michaels for yarn. I think Im going to make me an afghan using me new Q hook I bought off of Ebay.

Well you all have a blessed day and Ill be back to see you next year :) haahaa

Heresssss Betty

Looky here! My dear hubby bought me a glass head so I can put my hats on her:) I decided it would be a her so I will call the glass head Betty:) Next time you see her she will be dressed in an awesome hat:) I promise!  I was so suprised to get her. Now I just need to get busy making hats. Im in the process of making the baby sweater I already made but used the wrong yarn and hook size so it came out way to big. So I started making it in the correct size hook and the fine baby yarn:) As soon as its done Ill take a pic so you can see it.

Well tomorrow is my 50th birthday. Everyone tells me Ill feel very old. They just dont know I already feel old! Ive been fighting with this head cold for a few weeks now and Im getting pretty tired of it.

My girlfriend Karen and I have decided to join Curves. Its a workout place to do excersises for 30 minutes a day. She feels if she joins with me she wont skip any:) Im up for it. I just need to get drugs from my nicest doctor so I wont hurt so much! If you know what I mean. I let you know how Im doing once I start. Im not going to start till mid Janurary. I hope then everyone who started will quit by then:) lol Oh well we will see!

Ill see you tomorrow when I 50:)

2005 Christmas Day

Heres some pics of the 2005 Christmas day! As you can see we had a pretty good day all in all. The kids loved the dolls I crocheted for them. Riley really enjoyed playing with the Hero doll I made. And everyone I gave a beddoll to loved them. And I did get requests for dolls for others.

I do pray you all had a wonderful day aswell. Im staying home for the big New Years Eve so hubby wont have to worry about me. I figured that he has enough to worry about without me adding to his worries.

My 50th Birthday is on Friday Dec.30th. Terry was going to take me to dinner on the 26th because thats his birthday too:) And we both came down with the dreaded head cold. So we plan on going out next week:) We plan on going to Ruth Chris 's steak house:) I love a good steak!

Well have a great day and Ill be back real soon

.

           Merry Christmas

  and a blessed 2006!

Baby afghan completed

ok here it is:)

I made this really neat afghan for my nieces new baby girl due on Valentines day:) When I went and bought the yarn I decided to use Simply Soft because Angie uses it alot in her afghans. And I just love the way it feels and drapes. I bought one skein of each color. So when I started this afghan I had no idea if I would need more than what I bought:) But you wont believe it I had just the right amount. The green and blue where my hardest to finish because I thought I would not have enough. But low and behold I had a very small amount left over from both colors! Boy was I happy. It turned out so pretty. Now I need to go and get some fingering yarn to do another sweater:) Im going to make a hat and booties to go with it. Well have a great Christmas and enjoy the new year!

Day to day workings

Hello folks!

Am I glad to be back on my computer. I went off of DSL to cable and boy is my computer fast now:) I can whip around here like a champ. Ive been busy as you can see. I wanted to make my niece Sheree a baby sweater for her new baby girl due on Feburary 14th of next year:) haha of course next year!

Well here are some pics of it. It called for a size D hook and I used a size G hook:) And I have no idea what kinda yarn it calls for because I have never heard of the yarn in my life. Its from an older pattern book I have. Well it took me about 3 days to make this little sweater. I probably fits a nice size 9 month to 12 month old child. I'm going to give it to a very little girl I know...her name is Ziher. I do hope she will like it:)

Im going to make this in a size 6 months I hope :) Ill keep you updated. Im in the process of making my nieces baby an afghan. Next time Ill take pics a publish them up here so you can see it too! Its turning out awesome. I did have a yarn scare tho but thats for next time:)

I was looking at the picture I sent you earlier of the leaf in Massachusettes. And I was thinking about the very first picture I took with my digital camera and I thought you might like to see it too. So here it is. I found this cactus blooming in Sedona, Arizona. Hubby and I took a little trip there last year. As you can see the first pic is of the blooming cactus. The next picture is of the view from a mountain close by. We took a drive and went up the mountain and it had a turn out so people could stop and take pictures:) What a view! It was breathtaking. The third picture was takin at the cafe that was located next to the little river than ran past the inn we stayed at. We had breakfast next to where the ducks where swimming by. It was so peaceful. If you ever get a chance to visit Sedona please take advantage of everything they offer. Hubby and I want to go back next year for a few days.

Well I hope to see you again later this week. Have a very blessed day!

A crocheted Candle

I just wanted to show you my little gift to my Christmas Sister this year at WWW.HooksnGrannies.com . I wanted something christmasy that was alittle differant. I ran across this pattern and thought how cute:) If you want the pattern you can locate it at http://members.optusnet.com.au/we2/christmascandle.html. It was really easy to make too. I started it in the early morning and finished some time that afternoon. It turned out real cute as you can see. I did take it with me to the meeting of the LVCrocheters http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lvcrochet/ that meet on Tuesday nights once a month.

If you ever here in Vegas and you get a crochet itch come call us and we would love to meet you. One of the ladies is a teacher at the local community college. She is very talented.

Well I should get back to my gingerbread men. I have lost count on making them. They are so much fun too! I have been asked to make an afghan for a firend of my daughters so maybe I might do that:) Well have a happy crochet filled day!

Christmas Hat

Folks,

How do you like my hat? I went to our First Ladies Christmas Tea Party at my church yesterday. They asked all the ladies if they could wear a hat. I had no idea of where I would find a hat in Las Vegas. People really dont wear hats here. I went to my local Catherines Store to get a new outfit to wear to this party and believe it or not :) They had a hat there with purple pearls and a brown ribbon bow. And it was on sale for only 16.00! I snatched it right up.

I couldnt at first think of what to do with the purple beads because they were glued to the hat. Soooo I crocheted a ribbon to go around the beads. And I made a big poinsettia to put on the side of the hat. I was really tickled to be able to crochet something to go on the hat. Because if you dont know by now Im a crazed crocheter! I loved to show it off anyway I can.

Well have a great night and Ill be later in the week with something new to chat about!

2006 Crochet Calandar

Look what I found today at Costcos:) a neat 2006 calandar with a crochet pattern a day in it. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw it. They even had one on knitting but Im such an avid crocheter that I just had to have it. It has 365 patterns and it cost me 8.00. Now I wonder if I could try and make something once a day:) What do you think?

You know earlier this week I was telling you about me not having anything to crochet and I thought maybe I could start my spring afghan. But I totally forgot I have to make my niece an afghan for her new baby. She doesnt seem to know what the baby's sex is so I think Ill make a generic baby afghan. A nice yellow, blue and pink oh yea I did get some baby green to go with it:) I got Caron Simply Soft to make it with. I think Ill start that right away. If I can stop making those cute gingerbread men ornaments:)

Well have a great night and Ill be back tomorrow

New dining room table

Hi there!

I just received this new table from my hubby for Thanksgiving:) Its wrought iron with a marble top. I just love it. I especially love the chairs because they are so sturdy. Ive always had wooden chairs and they become wobbly after a while. I just thought you might like to see my new table:) As you can see my daughter went out and bought me new placemats for the holidays. I really dont like to use them it takes away from the nice marble. But she bought them and so I will use them.

I still have the old oak table I just dont know what to do with it. Its over 30 years old and its in decent shape a few scratches here and there but really nice shape. I tried selling it through Vegas Traders but I had no takers. Im thinking of giving it to the local woman's shelter. I know they maybe able to use it. Ill give them call first thing next week.

Well Im back making more gingerbread men. I thought of a few more people to give them too! haha I just love making them.

Free FunFur Yarn

Well folks,

Here it is at last! My free yarn . It came in a brown color which is great because you can do so much with brown. Some of the ladies that I have heard from that received their yarn says it was teal colored. But I really like my brown. It even shines like copper. I haven't decided on what to do with yet but Ill come up with an idea or two:)

Ive finished making my gingerbreadmen for this year. I keep wanting to just make them up because they are so easy and I feel like I accomplished something every time I get one done! funny huh?

Now I need to decide if I should make my spring afghan I want to make with tons of flowers on it. What do you all think? Or maybe I should take a break off of crocheting and get back to my knitting:) I dont know I just love crocheting!

Doing better:)

Well Ive been gettting encouraged to complete my knitting:) Thanks Dee! So Im trying to work on the socks every night for a few minutes at a time. Im going to complete these socks if it kills me!!

Ive finished making www.crochetwithdee.com scarves. Ive made 2 so far. When I made her first scarf I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn and only used one skein to make one scarf. Now Im having to use 2 skeins to make one scarf. They must have shortened their skeins some I think but they cost the same!! Oh well they are going to a great cause. I hope you all are making a few scarves for your local charity.

  Well have a blessed day!

Ill see you all later Have a blessed day and night:) Whoopie!!!!

update: I thought I would give you the pattern Im using to make this scarf. So you can try it out and see how easy it is to make a scarf. The pattern is :

ch 26 for the foundation then dc in second ch from the hook. Dc across you should have 25 Dc. turn ch2 and then do a Fpdc around post of dc on first dc on last row. Then dc on top of next dc.(Fpdc in next stitch then dc on top of next dc) across . You should finish with a dc on top of ch 2 of previous row. just repeat this till you get the desired length you want. Well I hope this makes since to you if not just email me and Ill try and explain it better:) You can tell Im not a designer.

Oh yea I used Lion brand Homespun yarn with a K hook

TAAAA DAAAAAA

Folks,

Here it is! Its finally gotten cold enough for me to have a nice cup of HOT tea. Ive been drinking cold tea all spring and summer long. I got up today and I was so cold or really chilled that I made my first cup of hot morning tea. Now to be honest I have had hot tea in the evening when I go out.

Can you see the steam from the tea Im drinking? Its from a box of tea I bought when I visited Sturbridge, MA.They sell it at the Publick House in their bakery.( Boy I would love to have one of their pumpkin muffins to go with this tea!) Its called Harney&Sons  you can reach them at http://www.harney.com/ they make a variety of teas and items to go with tea. Im drinking their Cinnamon Spice tea. Its fantastic, smells and taste just like cinnamon. Its like having a stick of cinnamon in the tea! Try it if you like cinnamon.

Well I just wanted to share with you my first cup of winter tea.

Boy Hero Doll

Here it is:) This is for my grandson Riley for Christmas. He wanted a Hero doll. So how do you like him? He was fun to make. I finished him in 3 days. I had to go to the store and buy felt for his chest emblem and his belt or he would have taken 2 days to make:) I sure hope he likes him!

I just thought you would want to see him. I already showed you the grandaughters bed dolls in an earlier journal.

                       Have a very blessed day!

Ok, the last item from my trip to New England

Folks,

I just wanted you to see my Maine lobster I brought home from York, Maine:) Isnt he cute! I did have 2 lobsters while I was in Maine. What a mess, I never had one I had to clean myself. I was absolutely a mess. Terry thought it was hysterical.

So when I went to an outdoors store with Terry in York, Maine we found this lobster and it called out to me to bring home:) NOT as messy!

And the big fish you see next to lobster is another stuffed animal I found at the outdoor store here in Vegas. Terry thought I was nuts because I just had to have it. If you come to my house they are both sitting on my wet bar:) Since I dont drink they fit beautifully.

New England yarn stores

People,

I wanted to take the time here and introduce you all to the stores I visited in New England. I first went to Webs(http://www.yarn.com/) in NorthHampton, Mass. It was fantastic. Dee from www.CrochetwithDee told me about the store. It was just awesome, it had the most beautiful yarn in the back room. It was huge. If you ever want to see one of the biggest yarn stores in Mass you should visit. You cant walk away from there without buying yarn. I bought the most beautiful ribbon yarn and some awesome sock yarn (for those socks for my mom). And I found a really cool bamboo crochet hook. I also bought the prettiest tote. As you can see it in the pic.

Then we went to Ogunquit,Maine and Micheal at the Pine Hill Inn (http://www.pinehillinn.com/home/default.asp) told me about the www.YarnSellar.com store. Terry let me go visit and they had some really nice yarns too. Mostly knitting but I did purchase a pattern for slippers and the yarn to make them. I also picked up a really neat little book, you put all your projects in.

When I went to see Dee from www.CrochetwithDee.com for my Overlay Crochet class. I met her at the nicest yarn store called A Stitch in Time(http://www.astitchintimept.com/). The ladies there were just as friendly as can be. I wished we had a store like that here in Vegas. As you can see in the pic I bought a couple of great itmes from them. I bought a cushion pad for my overlay crochet to be on(when I finish it) and some yarn. I just love the color I have no idea what Im going to do with it :)But Ill have fun trying to figure it out. Thanks Dee for a great time there. Say Hi to Ruth for me!

Pine Hill Inn

Here is pics of

The Pine Hill Inn | Rest, Relax and Indulge in Ogunquit, Maine

that we stayed at while we were in Maine.  When I booked the room I thought it was a Victorian room. But to my delight they changed the decor to contempory. It was very nice.

Michael and Jim who own the inn was very gracious. Michael made the most awesome breakfasts I have ever had in a B&B. It was really a pleasant stay.

The one thing that I did not realize when I booked the room was that the room was on the top floor. You can not believe how many steps I had to climb:) I had to climb stairs just to get into the Inn then I had to climb stairs to the room. Boy was I exausted:)

This was the Inn that have no TVs in the rooms or even in the parlor. Terry and I talked alot:) We had a great time just talking about our day! You will have to try it some time. But Im never going to be afraid of not missing the old TV.

Heres pics of York, Maine

I wanted you to see more pics that we took on our trip. We went to York, Maine they were having a festival and we wanted to see what all the excitement was about:)

We had a great time there. They were cooking fresh onion rings...dipping and cooking... they smelt great! We didnt get any because Terry thought my gall bladder might act up. But boy did I want some!

I bought some yarn from a lady that shore the sheep and spun the yarn herself. I ll take a pic later and show you all what I bought from New England.

I hope you enjoy the pics theres more to come.

Meeting CrochetwithDee

Hi all,

Well here are the pics where I met Dee from www.CrochetwithDee.com She was a great teacher. She taught me the concept of Overlay Crochet. When I get better at it Ill show you more pics of it:)

We got up really early on Thursday Oct.13 and we drove from Ogunquit, Maine for 4 1/2  hours to Bethel, Connecticut. It rained on us all the way there. But I got to see lots of country along the way.

I met Ruth one of Dees students and friend. She was great fun. Boy can she crochet! She used regular yarn where I used thread to make the Overlay Crochet.

Heres Pics of the Old Sturbridge Village

Heres some pics of the trip we took to the old Sturbridge Village Museum. It was great. We did have a good time. It was cold and alittle windy but they had fires going in all the differant buildings. Its one of the largest living museums in Massachusettes.

Terry wanted me to take a wheel chair so we did. But the ground was so wet that  the wheels in the chair kept digging into the dirt that it would not move:) It was funny seeing Terry trying to push me in the chair. I gave up and walked. I know now I really need to loose some weight!

My trip to Sturbridge, Mass

Well Folks,

Im backkkkk! We had a wonderful time. It did rain every day we were there! But I loved it anyways. When we got to the inn we found out they were having a Scarecrow contest. So I took some pics for you all to see. I hope you can see some of the scarecrows. I didnt take pics of them all. Just a few I found interesting.

We arrived at the inn at 11 am and our room was nowhere near ready. We could not get into the room till 3 pm. Terry did not get any sleep on the plane at all. Some guy sitting next to him snored very loud. I of course had taken a sleep aid so I was fast asleep!

I felt so bad for Terry. He was so tired he had not had any sleep for almost 24 hours. We talked the lady into letting us get in the room at 2pm. He went right to sleep so I dosed off and on too. I did watch the tv we did get in our room. The rooms in the inn was very small. And the inn was a two story inn so there was tons of stairs for me to climb! I really hurt after all those stairs.

We had lunch before we went up to the room. They had the best little bakery in the inn. But we had lunch of creamy clam chowder( but I like the way we make it here in Las Vegas better, we make it thicker!) Then we drove around town till we got into our room.

Ill post more pics later of the rest of the trip. Hope you can drop by and see more! So come back.

My beaded bracelets

I thought I would share some pictures of my beaded bracelets. I made these over the past few years. I became very depressed a few years back and I could not do anything. I could not even crochet :( I was a very sad person. But my sister Carri invited me to a beading class. I made my first bracelet and I was hooked after that. I beaded for a whole year before I could crochet again. Now Ive stopped beading and all I can do is crochet.

I think I live and breath right now is Crochet. I love making things for the troops and for the little babies. I want to make all kinds of crochet items. Dee at www.CrochetwithDee.com has totally inspired me. I cant wait to meet her. Im taking a class from her on Thursday and Im so going to enjoy myself. She sounds absolutely wonderful. Ill be back in a week. I will take lots of pics and Ill give you a tour of my trip. Have a blessed week.

You are dishcloth cotton.
You are a very hard worker, most at home when you're at home. You are thrifty and seemingly born to clean. You are considered to be a Plain Jane, but you are too practical to notice.
What kind of yarn are you ? brought to you by  http://quizilla.com

I went to this site for the quizz. Its really cute I thought you might like to try it out as well. Have fun!

I was so wrapped up in making the hats that I totally spaced the bible study:) lol

Well so far Im just about finished when I get it done(and when I get my camera back from my daughter Abbea) I will take a pic of it so you can see them. They are so adorable.

All my other dogs

Folks,

I put a pic of our new dog up on the journal a while ago. So I thought I should put a pic of all my dogs. These are our babies. We love all of them. Even when they accidently go potty in the house:(

They mostly get along. They fight ever so often. When they do its a riot around here.

I got Mya from my daughter (she still lives with us) when my daughter moved in. We got Fifi from my son when he divorced. We just recently aquired Chico from my son too:) Pooh I bought 8 years ago from some one who told me she was a Bullmastiff (not!) And then there is Max one of the worst destructive dogs Ive ever had. He actually ate my couch. Really! He has calmed down as the older he gets. Thank you Jesus!

Well I just thought you might like to meet some of my family.

Bi monthly crochet meet

We had a great meeting tonight. Mary and Angie showed up. I had my regular cup of chili. And I even had a grilled cheese sandwich tonight. We had a great meeting Angie is making an awesome baby blanket. I just love the colors she chose blue green and white. Mary  is making a really pretty baby blanket as well. I brought along my bed doll and some stockings to work on.

We chatted about crocheting and knitting as well. Angie brought along her new sock pattern booklet. I cant wait to see how they come out. I might even try to crochet a pair of socks. Thats if I dont ever start knitting a pair of socks:)

Save Seafore's Site

Ladies,   I was roaming around our links page and went into www.Seafore.com site and I read a letter by her husband Brad. He is looking for someone to take over her site. He is recently remarried and would like to either take the site down or have someone else take it over. If you or someone you know would like to do this go to her site and email him at Brad@seafore.com . He put the letter up on the 14th of this month. I would hate for all of us to loose a great crochet site.   Her site is where I got the great pattern for the Christmas Stockings I've been making for the troops.   I pray that someone will come along and take over this great crochet site. I would do it IF I even knew the fist thing about running a site like this one.

Been a crocheting...

Ive been very busy with making a bed doll that I got from www.TDCreations.com. They sell really cute dolls and the patterns for making the dolls dresses. The doll I chose to make was the one called Kaci she is really easy to make. Heres a pic of her..7150 13" KACI Crochet Bed Doll PatternI really like her. Im making one for my mom for Christmas and 2 more for my granddaughters. My granddaughters were over yesterday and they were going through the little catalogue that they sent me. And they picked out several different dolls that they wanted me to make for them:)

When I finish the doll Ill put a pic of them up so you can see the dolls Im making. Even my grandson wants a doll. Of course he wants the Hero doll for boys he has already picked out the doll. So I better get to making them:)

My Butterfly Pillow

Folks,

Heres my Butterfly Pillow I made that a friend of mine from our local crochet group gave me the pattern. So I made the butterfly pillow. My only problem is when I went to put the embroidery on the wings I made them opposite each other they should have mirrored each other:) Silly huh? Oh well IF I make another one I'll pay more attention to the details.

My friend created the pattern herself I think its great:) She is a budding designer. She crocheted beautifully too:)

Waffle Weave Stitch

Folks,

Ive been playing around trying to learn new stitchs. This one is called the waffle weave stitch. It is a very easy pattern to learn. I really enjoyed learning it.

I made a wash cloth with the one in the picture. All it is a front post stitches. If you know how to do that you've made the stitch. Try it you may like it.

I just thought you might like to see my hats on my reborn doll.. I got the doll from Rhonda the list mom over at HooksnGrannies. She did a wonderful job dont you think?

I hope this will inspire you all to pick up your hooks and get to making caps for the babies of Katrina.

Baby hats for Lackland AFB

Ive been real busy making caps for the babies at Lackland AFB. These are just a few that Ive been making for the babies. They were quite easy to make if you want a pattern I could write one up. But all I did was a basic round pattern then addes a decorative bady and then a edging. They work up really quick.

Ive been busy with WWW.HooksnGrannies.com and having a very great time. We have been collecting and making items for the Katrina victims. If any of you are interested in joining us just go over to the site and ask for an invitation. We love new members.

Im asking God to direct me in any way I can help from were I live. I know you are all in the same place that I am in. I pray for relief for those in need as soon as possible,

I think our goverment was taken aback just as the people in New Orleans and other places that were hit hard was. I dont think anyone thought this could have happened but alass it did. Now we have to stop attacking each other and start helping each other through all of this. Lets pray for God to bless us and those that need Him now.
